My name is Joseph Luis Eleuterio Tomacruz Bismark, but you can call me Joseph. I’m the kind of businessman who wants to be your friend.. I want you to be happy in your own life. My belief that the power of positive thinking will get you further than any self-help book that you’ve ever read. I myself had to discover this on my own. In recent years, I have built my life around pursuing my genuine interest in strengthening one’s mind. How have I done this, you may be wondering? Over the years, I’ve found having control over your own body can be a true exercise for the mind. Some may consider martial arts training to be a work out for the body. It is. However, when I spent time in this training, I found it training my mind to stay focused and positive.
Many people search for power their whole life and think that power will give them true happiness. Remember, power is within you already. So, if the power is within you, wouldn’t the happiness be there too? Think about the incredible sculpture the Michelangelo created, The Statue of David. When he finished this incredible piece, he said that David was there the whole time. He just took away everything else. Notice the artist’s power. He truly had the power of positive thinking.
When we get rid of all of the negative thoughts, we are taking away all of the parts that shouldn’t have been there to begin with. I want you to find the David within yourself. Now is the time to take control of your life by finding the positive in yourself and when you find the positive, you find the happiness too. You have the power to do extraordinary things, so stop wasting time and go out and do them.
Principles I Live By
Understanding People –
I’ve taught my employees and colleagues the importance of understanding people and seeing things from another person’s point of view. A sense of an open kind and an understanding to see how another persons sees a specific aspect of business or life can be very helpful for growing and being a better person. When understanding people and working with others, having a sense of humility and listening to their opinion is what helped me become the man I am.
Treating All People With Equal Respect –
The key to building a successful business is to treat all people with respect. Treating people with respect is not entirely easy, but I know that simply creating that mutual respect to all people can help a leader and a businessman build a business that grows. The hardest part is knowing how to treat people, but if a person listens to one’s own heart and mind, it’s not difficult to treat people with equal respect. Take time to listen to different people’s opinions, speak to a wide range of people, and work with different people often. Doing this will help exercise this ability.
Inspiring People To Take Charge –
I always strive to take charge in my life. There are countless people who have been able to take charge for their lives because they simply woke up one day and decided to. I also tell people to speak to their employees in a manner that will enable them to take charge of their own life. It’s much easier in the long run to inspire people and build a business when the leader decides to help the employees feel inspired in their lives.
Here’s my advice for your own personal growth and leadership –
Be Open In Communication –
The most important element of leadership is communication. I’ve always advocated on being open with employees. This is because employees can tell when a leader is hiding something and is being secretive. This attitude propagates a culture of mistrust in the organization and with that one element, the entire regime can fall to pieces.
Interact With The Team –
A leader is human and human beings share lives with each other. Since the team members and the leaders spend so much time together, interacting with these members should be on top of the leader’s list. It can be something as simple as asking about their families and ambitions, but the result would be brilliant. Often, leaders organize company picnics in order to socialize with their teammates.
Be Empathetic –
Just understanding something from the other’s point of view is a small part of empathy. It’s all about showing employees that the message is received and understood. I always show empathy in a tangible way and doesn’t dismiss employees without thinking. He tries to understand their point of view and then responds to their queries and issues.
Be Dynamic –
A leader needs to be quick in thinking and must be able to grab an opportunity. When employees see how proactive a leader is, they would emulate those features as well. The corporate world of today is extremely dynamic and leaders who don’t keep up would not only fail as individuals but would also bring their company down.
Young Leaders Should Focus On One on One Networking –
Because younger leaders have been raised in a social networking age, they don’t put much emphasis on anything beyond technology. However, business is all about one on one contact but due to lack of experience, younger leaders don’t know how to achieve perfection in this sphere. This is why I emphasize on the importance of networking with people in person.
Truth Is Important, No Matter How Uncomfortable –
It is necessary to tell the truth at times, even if it leads to anger among teammates. Of course, great leaders know how to tell the truth in a way that it motivates the employees and doesn’t bop them down. He has always stressed on the importance of telling the truth to employees, whether it is regarding important decisions or employee performance.
Accept Your Mistakes –
No leader is perfect and this is the best part of the leadership process and the personal growth that comes with it. Leaders who are candid about their fallacies and limitations often go a long way because their employees see them as human. These leaders are not afraid of being wrong and losing face, but are more focused on getting the job properly done, even if it involves seeking help from others. A leader who doesn’t accept mistakes can never achieve success.
This is my vision and my ideas about taking charge and doing it the right way for success –
Change The Game But Don’t Let The Game Change You –
The corporate game is such that people tend to drift in and out of it. My life has not been without challenges, but I have overcome all of them to achieve success. How? I didn’t follow the rules of the game and didn’t let the game overwhelm me. I made my own path in life and it paid in full with great rewards at the end.
Shake Things Up Every Now And Then To Keep Yourself On Your Toes –
One of the things I don’t like is staying in a comfort zone and not daring to take any chances. I believe that along with curve balls, life continues to throw opportunities people’s way, but they refuse to grab those opportunities because of their fear of failure. This fear of failure should be used as a fuel to accelerate and skyrocket your plans instead of stalling them. I want everyone to shake things in their professional life to avoid complacency from setting in. Keep challenging yourself to remember the challenges of your journey that you so love.
Be Ambitious and Believe That You Can Do It –
Ambition is necessary to achieve any great thing in life, whether it is small or big. Without ambition, actions are directionless and there is no purpose to them. This is why I encourage everyone to be more ambitious and ask people to hope for better things for themselves. On top of that, I believe in the importance of constantly working for and towards those ambitions. When people believe in themselves and their ambitions, they can do anything and scale any hardships that might occur in life.
Be A Great Leader & Become The Example You Want People To Emulate –
Finally, being a great leader is more that just barking out orders which is why I has always been playfully regarded as an island of calm in my professional circles. I want to be the example for other people to follow. This has resulted in great success for not just myself but also for QI Group, the industry, my peers and my employees.

12 Truths to tell yourself after a mistake or failure
Ultimately, I believe in believing in yourself and doing what your gut instinct tells you to do. A lot of people do things because they believe that they would be pleasing others with their actions and sometimes, they do it at the cost of their own happiness. A person can never be truly satisfied in life with that attitude. It is important to believe in whatever you are doing to achieve utmost success in that field.
“If people were to see a nicely dressed man casually walking down the street on a fine spring morning, they might wonder who he is and where he is going. By the thoughtful look on his face and his demeanor, he could be musing about how to bring happiness to a small child or what he is going to talk about in his next board meeting. At the time, no one would suspect that they were looking at a man of power and wealth who spends the majority of his time running a company and reflecting on spiritual growth. This kind, intelligent and gentle man is none other than Joseph Bismark, the co- founder of a huge business conglomerate known as QNet.
If people were asked to describe common management characteristics at a huge corporation, there might be several responses. However, most people are likely to say upper management people are strong, controlling, creative, dedicated and always focused on the profit margin. So, with characteristics like these, it makes a person wonder about Joseph Bismark’s background, and how he fits into the corporate lifestyle as a spiritual individual.
Joseph actually began his spiritual training and upbringing at the early age of nine when he went to live in a religious retreat in the Philippines. During his stay, he would learn what it was like to live without modern amenities like heating and electricity.
While at the retreat, he would receive training in the martial arts, yoga, classical guitar and become a Bonsai Master. He would also go on to become a Tai Chi coach and a qualified yoga instructor. At the time, he would have no idea that these skills and abilities would become part of his destiny and future profession. He stayed at the retreat until he was 17 years of age.
After leaving the retreat, he worked as an instructor of martial arts where he met Vijay Eswaran. They shared a mutual interest of spirituality and philosophy, which nurtured their relationship. Eventually they formed a small marketing company that blossomed into QNet.
As one of the founding partners, Joseph holds a great deal of responsibility for the company and its employees. Today, he is heavily involved with various roles including the title of Managing Director for V Founding. He also spends a large amount of his time at the RHYTHM Foundation where is a trustee.
Although, Joseph Bismark utilizes his leadership qualities to see that the business grows and profits, he is also very much involved with all employees and customers on a spiritual level. Any time employees need help all they have to do is ask.
Overall, Bismark is not that interested in his personal wealth or even material achievements. He gains peace and satisfaction from providing help and service to other people through his own spiritual growth.
The values that he learned as a small child at the retreat taught him the wisdom of working as a team and achieving goals together for his company. He enjoys happy and healthy relationships with his co-workers, and he was even voted as a favorite manager by his employees.
When Joseph is not devoting his time to work, he puts his efforts into the RHYTHM foundation in Singapore as well as the Singapore School of Meditation & Yoga. He also spends a great deal of time working on blogs, and he has even written a few books. Many people have enjoyed the “Gems of Wisdom”, which talks about his thoughts of life and striving for personal growth.
That stranger walking alone down the street might just be worth a second look. He could be the nicest fellow with a big heart and good intentions like Joseph Bismark.”
